Six Mile Library

Commissioned by the Village of Waunakee upon the opening if its new public library, this two-part piece hangs on the second floor overlooking the Six Mile Creek. The afternoon sun casts colorful patterns across the free-reading area of the fiction section.

The colors and patterns of the piece were chosen to honor the beauty of the environment surrounding the library. The curved boundaries represent portions of an aerial view of the Six Mile Creek, recurring at progressively larger scales like a geographic fractal. The rippling transparent pathway through the center of the piece acts as a portal for the imagination, connecting the water with the sky beyond.
